Beryl Gibson commenced painting during the Traditional Painting Course at Lajamanu in 1986. Her paintings depict the traditional stories including Mulga Seed from Miya-Miya and Janganpa (Possum). She and her sister Barbara Gibson Nakamarra (now deceased), were co-wives of Paddy Gibson Japaltjarri (now deceased) who was also a painter.

Beryl also worked as an assistant teacher at Lajamanu school in the late 1980s.
