Angelina was the daughter of the first Aboriginal pastor at the Roper Anglican mission. She worked in pastoral station camps and spent much time with her relative Ginger Riley, a key figure in the Roper River painting movement from the 1990s.
Anelina began painting as a child, developing a unique style distinct from traditional Roper River Aboriginal art. Nicholas Rothwell described her work as subjective reflections of law, old beliefs, and landscape. Her paintings feature detailed aerial perspectives of dry creek beds, burnt trees, river systems, billabongs, birds, flora, walking tracks, and camp sites, showcasing her deep connection to her land.
In 1997, Angelina won the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award’s general painting prize and was highly commended in 1998. She became one of Australia's celebrated large-scale landscape painters, exhibiting extensively and being held in major collections such as the Art Gallery of NSW, National Gallery of Victoria, and Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory.
Angelina George passed away in 2015.
